Gas export in Israel is Government-regulated, to ensure that Israel has a  sufficient gas supply.

The Government, in its decision 4442 (1.2019) exempted gas exchanges from licensing requirements, enabling EMEX members to export.

Once EMEX’s gas exchange gains sufficient liquidity, longer-term physical products and pure financial products (futures and derivatives) will be introduced.

During the first stage, the platform will not include clearing services. Provision of the clearing services is anticipated to begin within 1.5-2 years, as the  market matures.

EMEX’s goal is to develop a power exchange for the Israeli power market, once the market matures.
